In this session ...I'm creating a messy art journal spread while catching you up on everything that's been happening lately. I chat about my latest art supply discoveries, my upcoming vacation, why I'm taking my kids to Auschwitz, and I share a fun background technique using blotches, stains, acrylic paint, alcohol and coarse salt.

Oh... and there's a little cliffhanger at the end.

Why I Stopped Following Business Advice | My First New Art Course in Years! | Raw & Messy Sessions

In this Raw & Messy Session, I talk about not listening to advice that simply doesn’t fit who you are, creatively or in business.

For years, I have regularly been told ...that I should focus on selling just one flagship course. Create one big offer, keep promoting it, and stop making so many new things.

That may be excellent advice for some people. But I genuinely love developing new courses, exploring new ideas, and creating different ways for people to enter my creative world. Making the courses is part of the work I enjoy most. Why would I build a business that removes the thing I actually love doing?

And apparently, not all advice should be followed, because... Drumrolls... 114 people enrolled in my first completely new art course in years. I am incredibly proud, slightly overwhelmed, and therefore unable to stop talking about it in this video.

I also ignore another important piece of conventional wisdom: never combine pink and red.

Unfortunately, pink and red are one of my favourite colour combinations, and I am currently completely obsessed with neon pink. Apparently, subtlety has left the building.

So this session includes messy layers, repeated crosses, neon pink, a slightly strange character, business thoughts, creative stubbornness, and a reminder that advice is only useful when it actually supports the life and work you want to create.

Sometimes the most important thing you can do is listen carefully, think for yourself and then do the exact opposite.
